Kate Harris co-founded VotesforSchools in 2016. The team is now 17-people strong and Kate credits the growth of the business to her dedicated team who inspire her to be the best leader she can be – and that she is.

A colleague of hers said she is “a very professional, inspiring and caring leader”. They continued: “I have been in education for over 27 years, and she is one of the best people I have had the privilege to work with in terms of her character and unique experience, vision and understanding of the education business world. Kate is always looking forward, pushing for innovation and growth for the company and for us individually. Kate is very trusting, giving all of us independence and encouragement to initiate our own ideas and projects.”

Kate spent 14 years as a secondary school teacher and senior leader and saw first-hand how young people felt about politics and how scared they were of the concept of voting. Kate knew attitudes needed to change if young people were going to become not only responsible and empowered citizens but active voters of the future, so she set up VotesforSchools. More than 500,000 children across over 850 primary schools, Secondary schools, and Colleges take part in a weekly nationwide debate, with tens of thousands of young people logging their votes and sharing their comments to ensure that their voices are heard.
